Building a New Kind of Politics
We are a growing network of people who live and work across Cambridgeshire—local residents, community organisers, trade unionists, and elected representatives—coming together to build something new. Like so many others around the country, we’ve been inspired by the call from Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana for the creation of Your Party: a democratic, socialist, grassroots political movement rooted in compassion, justice, and equality.
We know that creating a national party takes time, and we fully support that process. But here in Cambridgeshire, we believe there’s important work to be done now. That’s why we’re forming a local alliance—Independents 4 Your Party Cambs—to lay the foundations for what’s to come. A number of independent councillors, who have stepped away from their former party affiliations, are now
working together. Committed to standing up for their communities, putting people before party politics, and building a truly local politics of hope and accountability. We came together because independents are stronger united. With us are trade unionists, campaigners, and residents demanding real change—on climate, housing, public services, equality, and global solidarity.
With local elections on the horizon in May 2026, this is our opportunity to offer a real, community-led alternative—one that listens, includes, and empowers.

Across the UK, people are demanding a new kind of politics—one rooted in fairness, dignity, and the belief that no one should be left behind. Your Party was founded to meet that call for change. We believe that in one of the wealthiest nations on Earth, no child should grow up in poverty, and no family should have to choose between heating and eating. It's time to rebalance the scales and ensure that prosperity is shared, not hoarded.
Our vision is built on the idea that a better society is possible—one where wealth and power work for everyone, not just the privileged few. That means making sure the richest contribute their fair share through a more just tax system.
It means restoring and strengthening our NHS by keeping it truly public. It means bringing essential services like energy, water, rail, and mail into democratic ownership, so they serve people—not profit. It means investing in good homes for all through a major programme of council house building. And it means tackling the climate crisis by holding polluters accountable and investing in a green, sustainable future.
We’re building a new kind of politics powered by solidarity. We stand against all forms of racism, religious hatred, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and prejudice — wherever it appears. We’re ready to transform our society from the ground up.
